A 104-year-old woman has fulfilled a lifelong dream of feeding giraffes at Edinburgh Zoo.
Betty Croy, who lives at Trinity care home in Edinburgh, celebrated her birthday at the RSZZ facility in Edinburgh on Thursday by hand feeding the animals.
Having worked as a nurse during World War Two, Ms Croy also enjoyed travelling the world in her younger years with her husband.
She spent time in Africa and had enjoyed seeing animals in the wild.
For her milestone birthday, staff at the Edinburgh care home wanted to help fulfil Ms Croy’s lifelong wish to feed giraffes.
Care worker Alex said: “She kept talking about coming to the zoo and thankfully when we reached out to Edinburgh Zoo, they graciously gifted us this experience to come meet the giraffes and feed the giraffes.
“In the lead up to coming up to the giraffes, she’s been so excited just to see them, meet them.
“She’s travelled the world when she was younger and she talks often about seeing the animals when she travelled with her husband.
So, it was just a great experience to bring her back to see all the animals.”
