Police Scotland has launched an appeal for information as fire crews continue to battle a blaze on Arthur’s Seat.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews from two appliances are still in attendance as of midday after being alerted around 7.25pm on Monday.

Three appliances were initially sent to the scene, with members of the public asked to avoid the area as crews work to extinguish the large grass fire.

The fire started in an area of vegetation near the ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel, and there were no reported injuries.

Images showed a large area of grass alight with emergency services on scene.

Crews remain in attendance to dampen down hot spots.

Police Scotland is now urging those with information to come forward as the multi-agency investigation continues.

Local Area Commander Alison MacDonald said: “We know that the area around Arthur’s seat was busy last night due to the good weather and would ask that anyone with any information surrounding the cause of the fire come forward and speak with officers.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2975 of May 25, 2026.

“As the good weather continues, we will continue to work with our partner agencies and would encourage members of the public to stay safe and behave responsibly.”
