A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was allegedly attacked in woods in Fife.
A 23-year-old woman was left fighting for her life following the incident in woodland near to Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, shortly after 6pm on Sunday.
She was taken to hospital, where her condition was described as critical but stable.
On Tuesday, police confirmed a 22-year-old man had been charged in connection with the alleged murder bid and is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
A force spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can now confirm a 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with the attempted murder of a 23-year-old woman in woodland near to Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, on Sunday.
“He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
