Police said the body of a man was found in the Almond Valley Bridge area of Livingston at around 2.40pm on Friday.

A body has been found amid the search for a missing man from West Lothian.

Police said the body of a man was found in the Almond Valley Bridge area of Livingston at around 2.40pm on Friday.

Officers said the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Formal identification has not taken place, but the family of missing man Alan Niven has been informed.

The 54-year-old was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, on Tweed Drive in the Craigshill area of Livingston.
