A bogus workman has been jailed for four years for a series of “despicable acts”.
Alexander McPhee, 33, targeted a number of pensioners in the Falkirk area during the space of one day earlier this year.
He first entered the home of a 79-year-old woman in Hawley Road and demanded money for work he had not done.
McPhee then tried the same trick on a 91-year-old woman in Cromwell Road. During this incident, he assaulted the victim’s 62-year-old son and stole his car.
The conman then entered the home of an 87-year-old man in Laurieston.
He threatened the pensioner and then robbed him of money and his bank card, which he later used to withdraw more cash.
McPhee carried out his crimes between 11.30am and 4.20pm on Wednesday, January 8.
After McPhee pleaded guilty to attempted fraud, fraud, assault and robbery at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday, chief inspector Chris Stewart said: “We welcome the sentencing of Alexander McPhee. This is a positive result for local policing.
“These incidents were despicable acts carried out on some of the most vulnerable people in our community and were terrifying for those involved.
“We are thankful to the witnesses of these horrendous crimes for providing us with information.
“McPhee’s sentence sends a clear message to those acting in such a manner that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in our area.”
