West Lothian school pupils were kept in classrooms after reports of a taser having been brought onto campus.
Officers were called to Broxburn Academy on Tuesday following reports of a taser potentially being on the grounds.
In a statement shared on Facebook, headteacher Shona Wallace said the item was quickly recovered and found not to be a taser.
She added that pupils were kept in classrooms as a precaution while investigations were carried out.
“Please rest assured that there was no risk to pupils or staff at any point during this incident,” she said.
“Pupils are attending classes as normal.”
Police Scotland confirmed the incident was a false alarm.
