Three taken to hospital after car flips onto roof on busy Edinburgh road

Two ambulances were sent to the scene, and three patients were taken to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

Three people have been taken to hospital after a car was left on its roof following a crash in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the two-car crash at the junction of Queensferry Road and Orchard Road at around 2.25pm on Thursday.

Pictures from the scene showed a car on its roof and another damaged nearby.

Two ambulances were sent to the scene, and three patients were taken to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

A driver was reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.25pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, police received a report of a two-vehicle crash on Orchard Road, Edinburgh.

“Vehicle recovery was arranged, and one driver will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A spokesperson for Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 2.23pm today to attend a road traffic collision on Queensferry Road in Edinburgh.

“We dispatched two ambulances to the scene, with the first resource arriving within seven minutes. We transported three patients to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
