A number of vehicles have been clamped and seized following a crackdown by Police Scotland and the DVLA in Edinburgh.
The joint operation, alongside Edinburgh City Council, was carried out in the Leith area of the city on Monday.
Officers said ten vehicles were clamped and five were seized during the operation.
Seven drivers were issued with warnings while 20 abandoned vehicle inquiries were launched.
Councillor Scott Arthur, transport and environment convener, said: “Working with partners is essential for tackling these issues. Along with the Police and DVLA, our Street Enforcement and Licensing Enforcement Teams took part in a joint operation to address a various problems reported in the local area, ranging from engine idling and abandoned vehicles to unlicensed second hand dealers.
“Thanks to the joint effort several vehicles have been seized or clamped, while Licensing Enforcement were also able to provide advice to businesses selling second hand cars. This is the first of what we hope will be more joint operations over the year and something we can roll out across the city.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were in the Leith area on a pre-planned multi-agency operation focusing on abandoned/untaxed vehicles, unlicensed motor traders and other associated Road Traffic offences.
“This action was in response to concerns from the local community regarding those issues.”
A DVLA spokesperson added: “We operate a range of measures to ensure that vehicle tax is convenient to pay but hard to avoid, and it is right that we take action against those who choose not to tax their vehicle.”
