A major search is underway for a 16-year-old boy who has been missing overnight in West Lothian.

Abdul Sarwar, from Whitburn, was last seen in Bathgate at around 9.30am on Monday and concern over his welfare is growing.

The teenager is described as Asian/Pakistani and around 5ft 9in tall with a slim build, medium length dark brown hair and a short black beard.

He was last seen wearing a black puffer style jacket, black school trousers and was carrying a black rucksack.

Police say he may have travelled to London by train.

Inspector Kylie Barnard, of Livingston Police Station, said: “We are growingly increasingly concerned for Abdul’s wellbeing and we believe he may have travelled to London by train.

“Anyone who may have seen Abdul, or who has any information on his whereabouts, is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101.”
