A convicted rapist, who was jailed for abusing a girl from the age of five, has died behind bars.
Brian Keenan preyed on the child between 2004 and 2021 at addresses in a South Lanarkshire town.
The campaign of abuse ended after the woman was attacked and raped. Keenan was jailed for ten years after he was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh last September.
Keenan had denied a series of charges during an earlier trial but was convicted of three offences – one of indecent conduct towards a child and two of sexual assault and rape.
The 44-year-old was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
He died on December 28 whilst serving time at HMP Barlinnie.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry will take place following the death.
