A father who was out hiking with his son said they “couldn’t believe their eyes” after they saw a “twister” in Fife.
Alan Scott spotted what appeared to be a funnel cloud forming over Gateside, while he was ascending West Lomond at around 2pm on Saturday.
Funnel clouds are associated with fast-moving winds, maintaining their shape before it eventually dissipates.
“My son and I had just left the bunnet stone to head up to the summit of West Lomond”, he told STV News. “A few minutes after we started our ascent, we stopped for a breather.
“We turned around and couldn’t believe our eyes.
“We watched a funnel form only just reaching out from the clouds and dispersed again.
“We continued to watch using my sunglasses over my camera lens for better footage, then within a minute or two, another funnel formed and reached the ground below.
“We were really taken aback by what we saw.”
