A cyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a van in Dalkeith.
The 44-year-old man was riding an electric mountain bike on the A6106 Old Dalkeith Road in Dalkeith around 1.40pm on Friday when he collided with a white Transit van.
The cyclist was taken to hospital, where his condition has been described as critical.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
The road was closed while investigations were carried out.
Sergeant Mike Nash said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us with any information. If anyone has dash-cam footage, please check it as it could have captured images which could assist our enquiries.”
