A cyclist has died in hospital three days after a crash with a van in Midlothian.

Emergency services were called around 1.40pm on Friday to the collision involving an electric mountain bike and a white Transit Van on the A6106 at Old Dalkeith Road.

The 44-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital, where he died on Monday.

Sergeant Mike Nash said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash.

“I would urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to contact us.

“Anyone with dash-cam footage from the area at the time is asked to check if it holds anything relevant and please get in touch if you can help.”
