A cyclist seriously injured when he was struck by a car travelling at 70mph has vowed to complete his round-the-world journey.
Josh Quigley, 27, suffered ten broken ribs, a punctured lung, a fractured pelvis and skull in the crash in Texas just before Christmas.
Doctors told him he was lucky to survive the incident, which happened when he was just 2000 miles short of his 18,000-mile target – a challenge he took on as part of his battle against depression.
After five weeks in a rehab, Josh returned to home to Livingston, West Lothian, last week – and has now been presented with a new custom-made bike.
‘Throughout the whole period and throughout the whole chapter in hospital and rehab I never once considered not finishing the cycle.’

He said: “Finishing this challenge has never been a question.
“Throughout the whole period and throughout the whole chapter in hospital and rehab I never once considered not finishing the cycle.
“It was just an automatic response that I will finish it – it’s just a question of when.”
Josh’s new bike – featuring a graphic of his motto – has been built by Shands Cycles in his home town.
General manager Dean Mcquade said: “Every time Josh looks down he’ll see his own mantra keep moving forward.”
