A Midlothian police station has been evacuated and closed due to a “smell in the building”.
The station in Dalkeith was evacuated around 10am on Friday morning.
A spokesperson confirmed the evacuation on social media, adding that it was a precautionary measure.
It has been established that the smell is not due to a gas leak in the building, but may be related to a drainage issue.
The station has since closed the front counter which is expected to reopen around 4pm.
Police confirmed that local services in Midlothian will not be affected as officers continue to work from other stations in the area.
“Officers will be on patrol in the local area, or you can call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency,” a spokesperson for the station added.
