Demolition works have been halted after a wall at a shopping centre in Fife was destroyed.
Glenrothes’ Albany Gate area, next to the Kingdom Shopping Centre, is currently being razed to the ground as part of ongoing “regeneration works”.
On Wednesday, shoppers were surprised to see a wall at the shopping centre was destroyed amid the ongoing building works.
Following the incident, work was paused to allow for a full assessment to be carried out. The demolition is aimed at removing long-vacant and deteriorated structures.
A spokesperson from the shopping centre said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred today within the demolition area adjacent to Kingdom Shopping Centre during ongoing regeneration works at Albany Gate.
“The area had been fully secured and cordoned off in advance, and we are pleased to confirm that no members of the public, tenants, contractors or staff were injured.
“As an immediate precaution, works have been temporarily paused while a full assessment is carried out by the project team and relevant specialists.”
