A dog walker has been left “shaken” after an attempted robbery in Galashiels.
The 41-year-old woman was walking her dog on Friday morning around 12.45am when she was approached and threatened by a man.
The incident occurred close to the junction of Hill Street and Croft Street.
Police say the victim was left “shaken” but uninjured by the incident and the man ran off after her dog began barking.
The suspect is described as being white, in his 30s, around 5ft 8in, with a stocky build and short dark hair. He was wearing a grey jumper, grey shorts with stripes down the side, and spoke with a Scottish accent.
Detective constable Claire White said: “This was understandably a frightening incident for the victim, who should have been able to walk the streets with her dog without fear of being attacked.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the man involved and are asking for anyone who was in the area, or may have private CCTV, video doorbell or dashcam footage to please come forward.”
“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0120 of September 8, 2023. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
