An 83-year-old man was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle road crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses over the collision, which happened in the Musselburgh area of East Lothian on Thursday morning.
The pensioner, who was behind the wheel of a blue Vauxhall Corsa, was driving west on the A199, North High Street, when he was involved in a smash with three vehicles.
Emergency services attended and transported the pensioner to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Sergeant Jennifer Forbes said: “The 83-year-old driver sustained significant injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.
“I would appeal to anyone who was on the road around 10.30am on Thursday morning, particularly motorists with dashcams, to please get in touch if you have information that could assist our investigation.”
