A driver caused a power cut for 300 homes after losing control of his car and colliding with an electricity substation.
Stewart Watson, 34, smashed his Vauxhall Corsa through a brick wall before colliding with the high-voltage station in Grangemouth.
Falkirk Sheriff Court heard the car initially struck a kerb before mounting a grass verge as Watson failed to regain control.
The force of the impact with tore the substation from the ground and it then caught fire.
The court heard that “resulted in an electricity outage in 300 surrounding properties”.
The accident happened in the early hours of April 13, 2019, at Allan Court.
Watson, of Grangemouth, pleaded guilty to careless driving and was banned from driving for nine months. He was also fined £450.
