iStockDrones have been banned from flying over Edinburgh Castle as Hogmanay celebrations kick off in the capital.
Police Scotland said that as part of the operation for the Edinburgh Hogmanay Festival, a temporary airspace restriction will be in place.
Police have issued the no-fly zone as the annual Torchlight Parade takes place in the city, beginning at the Meadows and guiding visitors through the Old Town.
Police ScotlandThe restrictions have been put in place from 5pm on Monday until 1am on Tuesday for security and public safety, police said.
Officers say it will be an offence for any unmanned aircraft to fly below 2,000ft above sea level and within one nautical mile of Edinburgh Castle.
The restrictions include drones, officers said.
