Hunt for man after duck 'killed and put in plastic bag'

A man in his 50s was seen to put the animal in a plastic bag before heading in the direction of Church Street in Haddington.

Police are probing the death of a duck that was “put in a plastic bag” by a man in East Lothian.

Officers were made aware of reports of a duck being killed in the Nungate Bridge area of Haddington at around 10.30am on Monday, March 18.

Police are searching for a man described as white, of large build, in his late 50’s with greying hair and a beard.

He was seen putting the duck in a plastic bag and then into a rucksack before heading in the general direction of Church Street in Haddington.

Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact them on 101 quoting incident 1819 of March 18.
