An EasyJet flight from Scotland that descended to a dangerously low altitude is being investigated by experts.
The flight from Edinburgh Airport was heading to Geneva Airport on November 5 last year when an emergency incident unfolded close to landing.
On approaching the runway, the aircraft, which was carrying 147 passengers, descended “well below” the glide path close to Lake Geneva.
Pilots were forced to perform a go-around before attempting landing for a second time.
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board is now investigating the incident with a full report due to be published in the coming months.
Documents published into the “serious incident” so far show that no damage was caused to the aircraft or anyone on board but confirms that the “the aircraft descended well below the glide path and the flight crew initiated a go-around.”
EasyJet confirmed that the pilots were “stood down” from duty following the incident but have since returned to work.
A spokesperson said: “We are fully supporting the investigation in line with procedures. At no point was the safety of those onboard compromised. The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
