An easyJet flight bound for Edinburgh declared a mid-air emergency after a bird strike.
Passengers on flight EZY3294 from Geneva on Sunday were diverted back to the airport shortly after take-off after the plane hit a bird.
The flight left around 6pm and flight data showed the plane making loops around the vicinity of the runway before landing again 40 minutes later.
The airline said the bird strike led to a default on the aircraft that “could not be resolved”.
An easyJet notice to passengers read: “We’re sorry that your flight has been cancelled.
“This is due to a bird strike that led to an aircraft default that could not be resolved.
“We understand that this will be disappointing news and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to make new plans, so here’s everything you need to know about what to do next.”
