Edinburgh Airport is expected to welcome thousands of passengers in the coming days as the city prepares to ring in the New Year.
More than 60,000 people are expected to fly into Edinburgh Airport, with thousands expected to enter the capital for its world-famous Hogmanay celebrations.
Meanwhile 64,000 people from Scotland will head off to celebrate the New Year abroad, with some seeing in 2026 in sunnier destinations such as Spain and Dubai, while others will travel to China, the USA, and beyond.
Overall, the airport is expecting almost 124,000 people to pass through the terminal between December 29 and Hogmanay.
“Edinburgh is world-renowned for its Hogmanay celebrations, and some would say we are the capital of New Year,” Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport said.
“We wholeheartedly agree with that and are excited to welcome 60,000 people into the city ahead of the big night.”
Mr Dewar added: “We also know there are others who want to head off for their own foreign celebrations – with some seeking a sunnier start to 2026 as they fly to Tenerife, Dubai and Doha, while others look to enjoy festive breaks and new experiences in Beijing, New York and even further afield.
“However you choose to welcome in the New Year, we wish you and yours a happy, healthy and successful 2026.”
