Edinburgh is set to celebrate its 900th anniversary with a “spectacular” light show at the capital’s castle.
Edinburgh Castle will kick off the Castle of Light event on November 22 to honour the city’s landmark anniversary.
The celebration will light up the capital’s skyline for the fifth year in a row.
The after-dark trail will transform the historic castle grounds with light and sound displays that promise to set the Christmas season ablaze.
Castle of Light will run for seven weeks throughout the festive season until January 4, 2025.
A team of Scottish digital and visual talent, in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, put together the event.
It is suggested that visitors allow around 60 minutes to fully experience the show.
From mythical creatures to long-lost tales, visitors will have the chance to walk in the footsteps of some of Scotland’s most famous figures.
This year’s event will spotlight Edinburgh’s “trailblazing” women, who are giving visitors the opportunity to “fire” the legendary Mons Meg for the first time since the 17th century.
