An Edinburgh-based kilt-maker has entered administration.

Administrators were appointed to Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers on the Royal Mile on June 30. The company has told STV News that it is continuing to trade.

Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers has been selling kilts and highland wear since 2009 and created pieces for the University of Edinburgh’s tartan in 2007.

Kilts have also been designed for the Scottish National Football Team and Celtic FC to celebrate their 130th anniversary.

The business says staff from the firm are trained at the Edinburgh Kiltmakers Academy, which the owner opened in 2016.

The following year, the company opened its second site on St Mary’s Street in Edinburgh.

On July 7, filings on Companies House showed Andrew Ryder of JT Maxwell Limited had been appointed as administrator.

JT Maxwell declined to comment.

A spokesperson for Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers told STV News: “Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers is continuing to trade. No jobs have been lost.”
