Jet2 flight diverted after mid-air 'medical emergency'

A flight from Edinburgh bound for Alicante was forced to be diverted after declaring a mid-air emergency.

Jet2 flight LS775 departed from Edinburgh around 7.10am on Tuesday, bound for Alicante, but was diverted to Stanstead Airport after declaring an emergency.

The aircraft landed at 8.50am in London before taking off for Alicante shortly after. Jet2 confirmed the incident was due to a medical emergency for a passenger onboard.

The flight left Stanstead before 10am due to land around two hours after its scheduled arrival time.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that flight LS775 from Edinburgh to Alicante diverted to London Stansted this morning due to a customer requiring medical assistance.

“The aircraft subsequently continued its journey to Alicante.”
