A McDonald’s restaurant in Edinburgh has banned under-16s without an adult to “help mitigate” the challenges of anti-social behaviour.

The fast food chain said children under the age of 16 would not be allowed in its Corstorphine Retail Park branch without adult supervision.

A spokesperson for the company said the restaurant made the decision to help mitigate the challenges of anti-social behaviour affecting the wider area.

“The safety and security of our people and our customers is our utmost priority, and our Corstorphine Retail Park restaurant has various measures to help mitigate the challenges of anti-social behaviour affecting the wider area,” the company said.

“This decision was not taken lightly, and the team continues to work closely with the Police and other local businesses to understand how they can be part of the solution.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
