An Edinburgh Ryanair flight was forced to divert 120 miles due to thunderstorms.

Ryanair flight FR3646 left the Scottish capital just after 1.30pm on Tuesday and was set to land in Milan around 5pm.

However, due to the weather disruption, passengers were forced to land at Bologna airport and landed around 6.30pm.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: “This flight from Edinburgh to Milan Bergamo diverted to Bologna due to Thunderstorms at Milan Bergamo Airport.

“To get passengers to their final destination as quickly as possible, we arranged for alternative transport from Bologna to Milan that night.”
