An Edinburgh social care worker has been banned from the profession after being convicted of providing fake passports to two people.
Isatou Singhateh was found guilty at the High Court of Edinburgh of arranging a fraudulent passport for a man travelling from The Gambia via Istanbul Airport to Edinburgh between August 8, 2020, and February 26, 2021.
She was also convicted of providing a fake passport to a woman who travelled from The Gambia via Istanbul to Manchester Airport between January 4, 2022, and January 17, 2022.
The social care worker accompanied the woman on the journey from Banjul International Airport to Manchester.
Singhateh bought tickets from Manchester Airport Railway Station to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station and travelled with her to the Scottish capital.
She was also convicted of stealing a quantity of money between April 20, 2021 and January 25, 2022.
The report from the Scottish Social Services Council read: “Your behaviour represents a fundamental failing and demonstrates values and attitude concerns which identify you as unsuitable for continued professional registration.
“There are ongoing public protection and public interest concerns arising from your actions. The SSSC is required to take action to reaffirm the expected professional standards and firmly declare that your actions were unacceptable.”
Singhateh was removed from the register on Wednesday.
