A busy street in Edinburgh’s city centre was cordoned off during rush hour after a taxi caught fire.

Emergency services were called to Angle Park Terrance at the junction with Ardmillan Terrace after the vehicle fire around 8am on Tuesday morning.

Pictures from the scene show a black coloured taxi badly damaged as a result of the incident.

Police cordoned off the area and Lothian Buses advised commuters of changes to services as a result of the fire.

Lothian Buses said on X: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Ardmillan Terrace and are instead diverted via Robertson Avenue and Gorgie Road in both directions until further notice.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
