Family of missing Edinburgh woman in 'living hell' waiting for answers

The family of an Edinburgh woman who has been missing since November is in a “living hell” looking for answers about her disappearance.

Khasha Smith was officially reported missing from the Calder area on Friday, January 5, after concerns were raised by her family who had not heard from her since November 4, 2023.

A major search has been under way involving specialist officers, but there have been no confirmed sightings or contact from her since early November.

The 35-year-old is described as around 5ft tall, of a slim build, with long, blonde hair and blue eyes.

She also has tattoos, one of which is visible on her right wrist and says “forever”.

In a fresh plea on social media, her family members said they are “broken, terrified, and in physical pain”.

They added: “At this point we are struggling to breathe, never mind having to try to go through the motions of normal life such as work, school run… it all just feels impossible.

“The not knowing is a living hell and every day we feel sick to our stomach in fear of getting the worst news imaginable.

“Can you even begin to imagine how this feels? Wouldn’t you be trying to reach out to someone, anyone that might know something?”

They urged anyone with information to “please do the right thing” to help get answers and bring Khasha home.

“Please help ease our pain and help us get some answers,” her family said.

“Khasha is such a kind, caring and empathetic person who would do anything to help you. She loves her children and family and is an amazing cook. Khasha is part of us, she is our family, we love her and we need to find her.

“If this was another member of our family that had gone missing, Khasha would be moving mountains to find us. And so we will do the very same for her. Khasha does not deserve this.”

Police Scotland inspector Keith Forrester said: “We are extremely concerned for Khasha. She normally maintains contact with her family and it is unusual for her to not be in touch for this length of time. I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Khasha or who may have any information which could assist in us locating her to get in touch.

“Please don’t think what you know is irrelevant, let us decide its significance, your information could be vital in helping us trace Khasha.”
