Family vow to 'pursue justice' after man charged with murdering Vikki Soloman dies in prison

The family of a woman murdered in her home say they are “determined to pursue justice” after the man suspected of her killing was found dead in prison.

Vikki Soloman was pronounced dead after being found with serious injuries at her home on Craigievar Square on July 20.

The 44-year-old’s ex-partner, Lee Greenan, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, charged with her murder.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody pending a further court appearance.

The 46-year-old was found dead at HMP Edinburgh on Sunday. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Ms Solomon’s family have described her death as an “irreplaceable loss” and vowed to continue to pursue justice.

“Following the heartbreaking loss of Vikki Soloman, her family is deeply moved and overwhelmed by the wave of love and supportive messages which brings great comfort at this devastating time”, the statement read.

“The community’s solidarity provides the family great strength as they feel the profound loss and grief of losing Vikki, taken so young and in such tragic circumstances. The loss of a devoted mother has left an irreplaceable loss.

“Furthermore, news of the passing of Lee Greenan, the man charged with her murder, is another bitter blow to the family. The family remains determined to pursue justice for Vikki.

“Their primary focus now is on her two children and they are committed to ensuring they are safe, supported and surrounded by their mother’s lasting legacy of love.

“The family kindly asks for privacy as they grieve and focus on supporting the boys. Details of funeral arrangements will be shared in due course.”

‘Unimaginable void’

Vikki was the owner of an aesthetics business and recently gave evidence to parliament about the regulation of the independent aesthetics industry.

A friend of the family, Karen Lennen, has launched a fundraiser in honour of the late mother’s two sons, Reece and Jude.

She said their mother’s death has left an “unimaginable void” in their lives.

“Our hearts were shattered by the sudden and devastating loss of Vikki Soloman”, the fundraiser explains.

“She was a devoted and wonderful mother, the rock of her family, and a fabulous friend to so many.

“Vikki dedicated her life to providing for her sons, Reece and Jude. Watching them grow into the wonderful young men they are today brought her immense joy and pride. To Vikki, the boys and everyone grieving: you will never walk alone.

“Her tragic passing has left an unimaginable void in their lives and placed an overwhelming burden on the boys as they try to come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.

“As they grieve the loss of their beloved mum, we want Reece and Jude to be surrounded by as much love and support as possible. We also want to do everything we can to help relieve the financial burden they now face.
