A Fife care worker has been removed from the register after she was convicted of animal neglect.
While employed as a support worker by Fife Council at East Fife Care, Hannah Band kept three cats locked in her kitchen for a six week period between February 26 and April 9, 2023.
The pets named Odin, Loki and Thor did not have a clean litter tray, were not fed and didn’t have water.
One of the cats, Thor, died in the room with Odin and Loki, who then consumed the carcass.
Bond was convicted on April 23, 2024, however, she failed to inform her employer or the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
The SSSC issued a removal order citing the support worker’s “a disregard for the law”.
The report read: “Given that social service workers are employed in caring roles, your neglect for three vulnerable cats in your care is fundamentally at odds which the values and character expected of a social service worker and amounts to behaviour which causes serious concern”.
Fife Council has been contacted for comment.
