A Fife GP has been suspended for sexually harassing a colleague when already the subject of a warning for another incident involving a patient.
Dr Sunil Kumar Sahu admitted asking the woman, referred to as Ms A, to enter into an affair with him in January 2022.
His inappropriate behaviour continued into August of the same year when he told her he “really liked her” and suggested that they become “friends with benefits”.
Dr Sahu leaned towards the woman’s mouth on one occasion before kissing her on the cheek without her consent.
He went on to tell Ms A that she had a “nice bottom” and proceeded to touch her bottom without her consent.
He admitted to asking to see her breasts and was found to have moved his hand to the zipper on her top.
A Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service tribunal found his actions constituted unlawful sexual harassment by engaging in “unwanted conduct of a sexual nature which had the purpose or effect of violating the dignity of Ms A, or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for Ms A”.
It added that his actions occurred when his registration was already subject to a GMC warning for failing to maintain a professional boundary with a patient.
Dr Sahu has been suspended from practising for nine months.
