Fife primary school staff call police after 'child wields knife'

Staff at a Fife primary school called the police after a pupil allegedly brought a knife to school.

The alarm was raised at Blairhall Primary School in Dunfermline on Tuesday.

Police Scotland confirmed there were no injuries and no threat to the wider community.

A report has been shared with the relevant authorities.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, officers received a report of a child in possession of a knife at a school in Dunfermline.

“There were no injuries and no threat to the wider community”.

“A report was shared with the relevant partner agencies, and suitable advice was given.”

Fife Council education manager for the area, Mary McKay, has confirmed that those involved are being supported

He said: “The welfare and wellbeing of our young people is our priority. Staff responded quickly and contacted Police Scotland immediately.

“There were no injuries and no threat to the wider school community. Those involved are being supported by the school, and we continue to work with Police Scotland and partner agencies. Due to the age of those involved, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
