A busy street in Newtongrange has been closed by police following a fire.
Emergency services were called to Main Street around 11.59pm after a fire broke out in a utility hole in the pavement.
Firefighters are in attendance, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Main Street in Newtongrange is closed following a fire in a utility hole in a pavement.
“Officers are assisting Scottish Fire and Service Service. Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed one appliance is on the scene.
