Fire crews are battling a building blaze which broke out next to a Fife train station on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire on Factory Road in Cowdenbeath at around 4.42pm.

Four appliances are on the scene in an effort to extinguish the flames.

Pictures from the scene show thick black smoke billowing over the town near to the train station.

Another image shows a firefighter directing water towards the flames. It is unknown if anyone was injured during the incident.

Emergency services are still on the scene and an investigation to establish the circumstances is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “High Street, Foulford Street and Stenhouse Street have now reopened following a fire on Station Road, Cowdenbeath, which was reported around 5.10pm on Wednesday, 9 July, 2025.

“Station Road remains closed and emergency services are in attendance.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
