Four people taken to hospital after crash involving van and car

Four people have been taken to hospital including a woman with serious injuries after a crash on the A1 in East Lothian.

The collision involving a Nissan Qashqai and a Volkswagen Transporter happened on the northbound carriageway at the Innerwick junction around 8.15pm on Saturday.

Emergency services attended and the male driver of the Volkswagen and three female passengers were taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh.

Hospital staff described the condition of one of the passengers as serious whilst the others were discharged after being checked over.

The driver of the Quashqai did not require medical treatment.

Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police, to please contact us.

“We are also keen to obtain any dash-cam footage from motorists who may have been driving on the road at the time of the crash.”
