Police ScotlandA fundraiser has been launched in memory of a “happy and outgoing” schoolgirl who was found dead in water at a Midlothian park.
The GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family of Faith Curran, whose body was recovered in Gore Water near Shank Bridge on August 6.
Emergency services has been called to the Gore Glen area, near Gorebridge, after the 11-year-old was reported missing.
Police say her death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
A fundraiser has now been launched by a family friend to support Faith’s dad, Joe, and her younger brother.
In an earlier tribute, her family described Faith as a “happy, adventurous, and outgoing girl who enjoyed life”.
The fundraiser reads: “As a community, we aim to raise as much funds as possible to help the family at this heartbreaking time.
“Whether it be for funeral costs, a memorial or even for Joe and Jude to have some time away in the coming months.
“We ask that you give, no matter how little it may be, any fundraising you can do in Faith’s memory would be much appreciated, and on behalf of Joe and his family, he is terribly grateful.”
Since the fundraiser was started, it has received more than 130 donations and has raised thousands in Faith’s memory.
