An eight-foot Nutcracker statue has been stolen from a cocktail bar in Edinburgh city centre.
The giant festive ornament had been placed outside Copper Blossom on the capital’s George Street before it was taken at around 1pm on Tuesday.
The cocktail bar is now appealing for its return.
CCTV footage of the theft has been sent to Police Scotland, but the venue’s general manager says no further action will be taken if the statue, named Nolan, is returned undamaged.
Copper BlossomIt is hoped that Nolan will be reunited with his fellow Nutcracker soldier, named Nelson, with the pair forming part of the bar’s seasonal display.
Paul Paxton, general manager at Copper Blossom, said: “We put a lot of time, effort and expense into our Christmas decorations at Copper Blossom to create a spectacular winter wonderland for all our guests.
“Our Christmas Nutcracker statues take pride of place as part of our seasonal celebrations, so not only has someone stolen one of our favourite decorations, but they’ve also stolen the spirit of Christmas, too!
“We’re now calling on the culprit to return our Christmas Nutcracker ‘Nolan’ and restore our special touch of festive magic. If Nolan is returned in one piece, then no further action will be taken, but the culprit is definitely on Santa’s naughty list!”
