An 11-year-old girl was among two people taken to hospital following a serious crash on the A92 near the Cowdenbeath junction.
The single-vehicle collision, involving a red Audi R8, happened around 12.15pm on Saturday.
Emergency services attended, and the 41-year-old male driver was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.
An 11-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the car, was treated for minor injuries at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
The A92 was closed for approximately seven hours to allow for investigations and vehicle recovery.
Sergeant Tom Aitken, from the Glenrothes Road Policing Unit, said: “Extensive enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
“We know that a number of people stopped at the scene after the car left the road, so would ask anyone that hasn’t spoken to police, or who saw the Audi prior to the crash, to please come forward.”
