A 14-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with wilful fire-raising in Edinburgh.
Four fire appliances were called to a blaze in a stable at Gorgie City Farm shortly after 6.25pm on Wednesday, 24 July, 2024.
No one was injured in the incident, Police Scotland confirmed.
A statement read: “A 14-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with wilful fire-raising in Edinburgh.
“The incident happened at a stable at Gorgie City Farm in Edinburgh shortly after 6.25pm on Wednesday, 24 July, 2024. No one was injured. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
The incident was followed by another fire in Gorgie Park Close in the same area of the city on Wednesday.
A man was injured and a flat block was evacuated, with six fire appliances were deployed to the scene at around 8.17pm on Wednesday.
The two fires are not being treated as connected.
The SFRS’s statement about the second fire read: “We were alerted at 8.17pm on Wednesday to reports of a fire within a block of flats on Gorgie Park Close, Edinburgh.
“Six fire appliances and supporting specialist vehicles were mobilised to the scene where crews extinguished a fire within a first-floor flat of a four-storey building.
“One male casualty was rescued from the building by firefighters. He suffered moderate smoke inhalation and received treatment at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“All other residents were evacuated from the building and no further casualties were reported. A cat suffering from smoke inhalation was treated by firefighters using Smokey Paws kit.
“Crews left the scene around 1am after ensuring the area was made safe.”
