Penguin chicks at Edinburgh Zoo have received their first vaccines and microchips.
The work was carried out by vets and keepers from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) with help from two final-year veterinary students from the University of Glasgow.
21 new chicks were born at the zoo this year – 16 Gentoo and five Norther Rockhopper penguins.
The penguins were vaccinated against Clostridium species bacteria which can cause tetanus, botulism and colitis.
Visitors can spot the newest arrivals to Penguins Rock in the creche area of the zoo.
