Police are on the hunt for a gang of youths after a schoolboy was assaulted during an attempted robbery.
Two boys, both 13-years-old, had been walking along Ferry Road, in the Trinity area of Edinburgh, at the time of the incident at around 7.40pm on Sunday.
Around 12 male youths, aged between 14 and 16-years-old, are said to have demanded money from one of the boys, before assaulting him when he attempted to run off.
The group were wearing dark-coloured tracksuits, with face masks and balaclavas.
One of the teenagers was described as being of Asian appearance, around 5ft, and was wearing a distinctive pink headband and black gloves
Detective constable Will Doughty said: “Fortunately the boy assaulted did not require medical treatment but was left frightened by what happened.
“We have a description of one of the assailants and we would like to speak to all of those involved as part of our enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
“If you can assist then please contact us on 101, quoting incident number 2640 of Sunday, January 2, 2022, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
