A hunt has been launched after a man stole prescription medication and cigarettes from woman in the Scottish Borders.
Officers were alerted to the incident which occurred on a pathway near to Thornfield Crescent in Earlston between 10pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old woman was approached by a man who grabbed her arm and then searched her pockets before forcibly taking the bag.
Police confirmed the woman did not need medical treatment but was “shaken and alarmed” by the incident.
An appeal has now been launched to trace the man who has police described as white, around 6ft, of medium build, with brown hair, and wearing a black cap and black hooded top.
Detective constable Liam Myers, of Galashiels CID, said: “The woman was left very shaken by the incident and it is vital that we establish the full circumstances of what happened and trace the man responsible.
“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen or heard anything that could help with our enquiries.
“Anyone with private CCTV, doorbell footage or dash-cam, particularly in the Summerfield, Everest Road, Gun Road and Gun Avenue areas, is also asked to get in touch.
“If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4035 of Thursday, January 24, 2024, or make a call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
