An investigation into a flight from Edinburgh to Belfast which suffered a hard landing is still ongoing.

The Aer Lingus regional flight, operated by Emerald Airlines, landed at around 4pm on December 22 after flying from the capital.

The operators confirmed that the craft experienced a “hard landing” due to the “adverse weather conditions”.

There were four crew on board and no passengers. The runway was closed for the remainder of the day following the incident.

A spokesperson from Emerald Airlines at the time said: “An Emerald Airlines positioning flight, EA701P, with no passengers on board, flying from Edinburgh to Belfast City Airport, December 22, 2024, experienced a hard landing upon arriving into Belfast City Airport due to adverse weather conditions.”

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has confirmed that an investigation into the incident at the Northern Irish airport is still being carried out.
