Discover East lothianA probe has been launched after two seal pups were reportedly attacked near an East Lothian harbour on Thursday.
The incident is alleged to have taken place near to North Berwick Harbour on Victoria Road at around 4.45pm.
One of the seal pups was located at the scene whilst the other is still missing.
Police Scotland has confirmed that the relevant authorities have been contacted regarding the welfare of the animals.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 4.45pm on Thursday, November 28, 2024, we received a report of a two seals having been attacked by a man near to the harbour in Victoria Road, North Berwick.
“Officers attended and contact was made with appropriate agencies regarding the seals welfare.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
