King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort, will visit Dunfermline on Monday to mark the former town becoming a city.
They will attend an official meeting at the City Chambers and visit Dunfermline Abbey on Monday, October 3.
Twenty members of the Dunfermline Junior Chorus will sing ‘God Save the King’ at the ceremony.
The former Fife town was granted city status as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in May.
It saw Dunfermline become Scotland’s eighth city after Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling.
The trip to the city will see Charles and Camilla holding their first public engagements since a period of mourning following the passing of the Queen ended.
In Their Majesties’ second engagement of the day, they will host a reception to celebrate British South Asian communities at The Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Speaking ahead of the monarch’s visit to Dunfermline, Scottish secretary Alister Jack said: “Being awarded city status represents a very special moment for Dunfermline and its community.
“It is particularly poignant, and a true honour, that Their Majesties King Charles III and the Queen Consort will be present at the event, marking their first official engagement since the end of formal royal mourning.
“This royal ceremony heralds an exciting new chapter in Dunfermline’s history, and I am delighted to attend and celebrate this wonderful city’s rich heritage and promising future.”
