Lifeboats and a helicopter have been deployed to assist with the search for a woman on Friday.

Michelle Louise Ewan was reported missing around 2pm in the Aberdour area. The 41-year-old is described as white, around 5ft 6′ tall, with a medium build and purple hair that is shaved at one side.

RNLI crews from Kinghorn and South Queensferry were dispatched to the Firth of Forth along with coastguard teams from Leven and South Queensferry to assist with the operation

A helicopter was also mobilised to search the water near Aberdour.

A coastguard spokesperson said: “Coastguard Rescue Teams from Leven and South Queensferry, RNLI lifeboats from Kinghorn and South Queensferry and a coastguard helicopter have been assisting police with a search in and around the Aberdour area this evening, February 28.”

Police are urging members of the public to come forward if they have information regarding Michelle’s whereabouts.

Sergeant Gayle Stewart said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen Michelle or has any information on her whereabouts to please contact police.

“Enquiries are ongoing as she try to make sure she is safe and well.

“Please think back – did you see anyone matching Michelle’s description? If so, please get in touch.”

Those with information are asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1941 of February 28.
